FAQ

Why should I outsource my billing through MedCal?

By contracting MedCal to handle your billing and collection needs, you are allowing you and your team to be fully dedicated to your business. Outsourcing your billing needs allows you to devote more time to patient care and marketing. MedCal has the unique ability to relieve you from the tedious and time-consuming follow-ups with insurance companies. We can also save you time and money on the billing software that you are currently using that may not be as efficient and effective for your business as we can be. In order to provide you with the best service possible, MedCal utilizes the latest and most up-to-date billing software in order to significantly reduce the risk for rejection or denial of claims. We also pride ourselves on attending monthly seminars to ensure we are always up-to-date with all of the new policies and regulations.

How do I send my billing and how often should I send it?

The fastest way to send your billing is via fax. However, we also accept emails and regular postal service mail. Your billing should be sent whenever it is convenient for you – daily or weekly.

Do I have to cancel my current billing company in order to sign on with MedCal?

No, you are allowed to have more than one billing company at a time. If you are unsure about signing on with MedCal 100%, we recommend a trial period in which you submit a portion of your claims to MedCal and the remaining to your current billing company. We are quite confident that you will be satisfied with the services we provide and that our performance will surpass any competition.

How does MedCal submit claims? Paper or electronic?

In order to generate your returns as quickly as possible, MedCal submits most claims electronically. MedCal has the ability to submit a paper claim, however, will only do so if it is required by the insurance company (which is generally not the case).

Is MedCal HIPAA compliant?

Yes. The software used by MedCal is 100% HIPAA compliant. The online database base is protected with an online security system that is tested daily.

What is an Online Database and how does it work?

For your convenience, MedCal utilizes a virtual filing system that allows you to retrieve any recent or past documents by logging into a secure online server. Access to the site is only permitted by entering your personalized username and password, which will be issued to you upon joining MedCal. The database will keep documents for up to one year, allowing you to compare billing invoices from previous weeks or months. You can also monitor the progress of current billing so that you have up to date information on when to expect your payments. The system can be conveniently accessed at any time of day.
